Aquaculture system design experience
Work across research facilities, conservation centres, schools and community ventures, from mobile filtration units to full-scale flow-through hatcheries.
Prior to LoTech I was fortunate to work across a wide range of aquaculture and aquatic life support projects, from research facilities and conservation centres through to schools and community ventures.
Along the way I have designed and commissioned systems ranging from compact mobile filtration units and mesocosms for research, through to full-scale flow-through hatcheries for breeding and releasing native fish. I have also worked hands-on with advanced life support systems that create safe, reliable habitats for sensitive and endangered species, including multi-tank refuges, breeding research facilities and public-facing exhibits.
I have delivered recirculating aquaculture systems that mirror commercial production, giving students practical, industry-relevant experience. My PhD research in Vietnam focused on sustainable tropical aquaculture practices and low-input systems suited to smallholder farmers.
